5 - 6 November 2026 MUTEC

Future viability and sustainability for small museums

11:00 AM - 12:30 PM Fri 08. Nov

Short description

All museums are facing major new challenges. Multiple crises are also affecting their work and a new definition of museums is slowly taking effect. The majority of German museums now tend to be smaller institutions with special resources and are often located in rural areas.

Description

The event will examine trends and challenges for them in the coming years and discuss recommendations against the background of current museum management approaches. A holistic sustainability of their work: economically, culturally, socially and ecologically will be the benchmark for the future viability of small museums. Practice and theory will not be neglected in the event.
