Uncovering the treasure: collection data and its potential for visualization and storytelling

2:00 PM - 2:30 PM Fri 08. Nov

Short description

The lecture highlights the added value of these innovative narrative forms for institutions and visitors and also describes the challenges of communicating extensive collection data.

Description

Museums are faced with the problem that a large part of their collection is not accessible to the public due to spatial restrictions. Linnéa Richter's presentation deals with the possibilities of digital technologies to make this hidden cultural treasure more accessible to different target groups.

Using best practice examples (EU research project InTaVia, Louvre Abu Dhabi, etc.), she will explain how digital tools can be used to extend the reach of collections and overcome the physical limitations of exhibition spaces. New approaches, such as digital visualization, 3D scans and augmented reality, can help cultural artefacts and their stories reach a wider audience.
